Summary

What Seventh-day Adventists believe

In the beginning God created our world.

The Bible is the record of God’s revealing himself through human spokesmen. It 's purpose is to give us hope, to show us how to live, to warn us of dangers.

The Ten Commandments are God’s unchanging law.  They show us how to live.  They protect our relationships with God and others.  The Sabbath  honours God as our Creator and Saviour. Mankind has broken Gods law.  This is called sin.  The result of sin is death.  Jesus came to our world so that everyone who believes on him  shall not perish but have everlasting lifeBaptism by immersion is a public statement that a person has accepted Jesus as Saviour and has decided to follow Him.  The Holy Spirit works in all believers to bring their lives into harmony with the Divine will.

To the believer death is like a sleep, a peaceful pause before the resurrection which takes place at the second coming. Signs given by Jesus indicate that His coming is near.  At His coming Jesus will take those who have believed on him to Heaven.  It is God's intention at the end to restore our earth, to make it new.  Hell is about the destruction of the lost, not eternal torment.  As part of the final winding up of things God has a judgement so that all may examine his dealings in the sin crisis.

It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
