Judgement:

Judgement Day

Nobody can avoid the judgement.  Romans 14:10,   2 Corinthians 5:10.

God has set a day.   Acts 17:31.

Who needs a judgement?

star We do.     Revelation 12:10   The name “Satan” means accuser.
star God does.  He gets the blame for a lot.  Satan questions his dealings
    with men.    Job 1

Does God need a judgement day to find out who will be saved?  2 Timothy 2:19

The Bible says God is wise, fair, just, merciful, all knowing.  He is quite capable of handling the judgement all by himself.  However, it is important for justice to not only be done but to be seen to be done.
Satan charged God with being a tyrant, that He was unfair and much more.  The judgement will exonerate God and his dealing with the sin problem.  All will see his love and fairness.

A day of joy?   Revelation 14:7   1 Chronicles 16:31-34

What it's it all about?

Rewards and punishment   (what we deserve?)
Revelation 22:12    "My reward is with me"

Putting things that are wrong right
Punish the wrongdoer for what they have done 1 Samuel 24:12, 15 (281)  Romans 12:17 (1095)

Daniel 7.   An array of earthly powers oppresses God's people until God has an open judgement and right triumphs.  Note verses 9,10, 21, 22, 26, 27.
Revelation 18:20

God's name is cleared.   Revelation 19:1, 2

The books of the judgement.

Book of remembrance    Malachi 3:16-18
Book of life  -What if your name is missing? - Revelation 20:15
-What if your name is there? - Revelation  21:27
-Whose book is it? Names in the book are reviewed
                      Exodus 32:32, 33  Revelation 3:5  Psalm 69:27, 28

What criteria are used?

Individual choice. Ezekiel 18:5-32.    It is not transferable from parent to child.
Acts of love.   Matthew 25:31-46.    What do these show?
Law and mercy.  James 2:12, 13.
Thoughts and actions.  Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14.
Words.    Matthew 12:36, 37, 34.    What do these reveal?
Our relationship with Jesus.  John 3:16-29,    Romans 8:1.  (Condemnation is the language of judgement)

Note: we can face the judgement with confidence - 1 John 4:17,  1 John 2:1  Because we have an Advocate.

All who have truly repented of sin and by faith claimed the blood of Christ as an atoning sacrifice, have had “pardon” entered against their names in the books of heaven.

In the last great judgement, the lost will not be condemned for the fact that they were born in sin, but because they spurned the love of God and refused to turn from rebellion and accept Christ as their Saviour.
