A. He was really human.

a) Human Birth

B. He was really divine.

III. His life and ministry
A. Reveals the true character of God.

For thousands of years Satan had been misrepresenting the character of God. God was thought of as arbitrary, demanding, easily offended and responsible for suffering.

How did the life of Jesus combat these misconceptions by word and deed?

B. Revealed Christ's victory over Satan.

Jesus life left Satan a defeated foe.

C. Showed us how to live
No new principles of conduct are introduced in the New Testament. Instead Jesus lived out God's way to live perfectly. In His life we see the high ideal God holds for us

IV. His death
A. His death was in place of another (Vicarious)

Jesus did not die for His own sins - He was sinless 1 Peter 2:22

B. His death provided for full restoration

a) It met the penalty of the broken law - death
Romans 6:23 ;   2 Corinthians 5:14, 21
b) It satisfied the requirements of justice that sin receive its full penalty

c) It provided for the forgiveness of past sins

d) It provided for man's reconciliation to God

e) It provided for man's full restoration to oneness with God

C. His death was a complete sacrifice
There is no need for it to be repeated as were the ancient sacrifices

V. His resurrection
A. By His own power

B. So that we may:

a) Have new life now
